Today I was scheduled to photograph a couple vacationing at the Wynn hotel.  It was suppose to be a 2 hour portrait session. Yesterday when I reached out to them, I was told one fell ill. I received a text today saying that the person was still sick.  I began wondering if I should charge a small deposit for these 2-hour photo shoots. Now don't me wrong, I have no doubt the client had a legitimate reason to cancel. Yet, I'm wrestling with rather I should charge a deposit for short term shoots,  after all that time slot isn't available for another shoot. I do charge deposits for weddings and other celebrations that take a minimum 4hours to shoot. I have to give this more thought.
